Seton Hall’s School of Health and Medical Sciences uses PolicyMap to visualize health problems and aid students in learning techniques for planning, preventing, and managing at-risk health conditions associated with those problems.
“Student research utilizing [PolicyMap] will inform their subject knowledge as well as enhance their digital literacy and critical analysis skills.”
Dr. Anne M. Hewitt wanted to help her students develop analytical skills to make real-time decision-making skills necessary in the health industry.
She created a new assignment that integrated PolicyMap into her "Managing Community and Population Health Systems" course. It required students to identify at-risk populations, develop risk segmentation characteristics, and complete a risk stratification. By using PolicyMap, students were able to better assess risk factors and access to treatment options that would be important in the planning, preventing, and managing of at-risk populations.
